Melanie Miller

Melanie’s paintings are oil on gesso panels and boards, the surfaces are complex with a build up of paint. Sometimes they are printed or embossed with elements removed and revealed –  the accidental paired with the deliberate.

She chooses many of the objects with perhaps a degree of nostalgia to be viewed with a mixture of mystery and wonder. They are relatively commonplace, insignificant and imperfect, beautiful and repellent. Melanie likes the tension between attraction and repulsion, temporality and continuity, forming part of a personal history.
