John Brown

Born 1931-  LondonTraining Hornsey School of Art and Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute under Howard Bate RA.

He creates contemporary sculptures based on the simplified human figure, expressing emotions and relationships.   These range from interior pieces for the home to larger works for the garden, work environment and public places. Themes very often run through a number of completed works giving a feeling of recognizable continuity to his sculpture.

The sculptures are in stone or in limited editions in traditional foundry cast materials such as bronze or in cast resin metals, such as bronze, aluminium or iron.

He shows at galleries in London and the Home Counties as well as art fairs.

His public works include several for hospital sites, including quiet gardens in cancer units in Maryland USA and Kent and his corporate commissions include those for hotels, shopping centres and City of London businesses.

In 2000 he completed several commissions for the Millennium including ‘Tête à Tête’ sited in Harpenden Town Centre and the BBC ‘People’s Award’ Trophy whose winners included Sir Magdi Yacoub, Judi Dench, Elton John and David Jason.
