We are overwhelmed to have raised a record total of over £175,000 for the care and cure of breast cancer (and with further commissions and artwork orders still flowing in, that figure just keeps rising!)
A staggering 8,000 people visited over the first May bank holiday weekend, the stunning location of Glemham Hall in Suffolk whose rooms and gardens were transformed in to galleries , showing a unique curation of art works, prints and sculpture from over 75 East Anglian and acclaimed national artists.
Michael Speller’s avenue of contemporary sculpture overwhelmed the senses, Cary Norman’s natural metal pods, reeds and globes became best -sellers and few could resist the fun for their gardens of Mike Savage’s hovering dragonflies or perching birds. Art was here on show, in this splendid Suffolk setting for everyone’s sheer enjoyment and we know from sales you loved it!
There are so many people involved in this exhibition who we owe our enormous thanks. Our local sponsor support; corporate and individual, who together enabled this event to be staged . The commitment from our massive army of talented volunteers who worked tirelessly each day with smiles and enthusiasm and of course the Art for Cure 2016 committee who have been planning and fine tuning this event for many months. All together we made it happen.
This huge sum of money raised will go towards vital research into the cure and treatment of breast cancer and we are thrilled that Art for Cure will be supporting, amongst others, Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity as well as a number of East Anglian based breast cancer charities.
We thank you all for playing your part – artists, volunteers, sponsors and art lovers and for making Art For Cure 2016 such an overwhelming success.
